Michael J. Korber
US
Born in Brooklyn, New York from Italian mother Jospehine Fracchiolla and German father. From early age Korber studied under Spanish painter Manual Vega in his Studio in New York. This is where he developed his sense of line and color also exploring and mastering the different mediums from gouache to oil pigments. Attended re-known Pratt institute School of Art & Design on a awarded full scholarship. During his studies he also attended Colombia School of Medicine, NYC, where he studied anatomy like the old masters. Drawing and studying from dissected corpses.
Paintings, sculptures and drawings of Michael Korber represent his unique figurative style, trademarked by the affection for the linear motion in capturing the sensuality of human nature. The artist established a new direction in the world of modern art - the school of "pyrotechnic iconographism". The title "Pyrotechnic Iconographism" was bestowed upon his style by Dame Françoise Tempra, the art historian and president-founder of the Malta International Art Biennale.
Korber is a recognized International artist and has received awards and Distinctions like the Grand Prix des Arts 2001 ( Malta Int'l Art Biennale- Malta), First prize 2002 ( Grolla d'Oro di treviso-Italy), First prize Painting 2003 (Centre Culturel Christiane Peugeot-Paris, France ), Judge and Guest of honour Malta Int'l Art Biennale- 2003-05 and is currently deputy vice-president of Malta Int'l Art Biennale- Malta
Korber exhibited in countries such as France, Malta, Egypt, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Venezuela, Russia, USA, Puerto Rico and many more.
Korber's work is also collected in many museums world wide. His last public piece was acquired by the United Nations (REMPEC Division).
